AF&G LLC recently completed a major municipal road striping project for the City of Ridgeland, Mississippi. This project showcases the range of pavement marking services we provide for municipal and government clients.
Project Scope
The Ridgeland contract included multiple types of road markings across city streets and intersections:
- Center line striping — Yellow center lines with proper dashed/solid patterns per MUTCD standards
- Edge line marking — White edge lines for road boundary definition
- Reflective raised pavement markers — RPMs for nighttime visibility along center lines
- Thermoplastic turn arrows — Durable turn lane indicators including U-turn markings
- Bike lane markings — Bicycle crossing symbols and “XING” text markings at intersections
- Bicycle lane symbols — Standard bike lane marking for dedicated cycling lanes

Why Thermoplastic Markings?
For this municipal project, thermoplastic was specified for high-wear areas like turn lanes and bike crossings. Thermoplastic markings are applied at temperatures exceeding 400°F and fuse directly to the pavement surface, providing:
- 3-8 year lifespan depending on traffic volume (vs. 6-12 months for standard paint)
- Superior reflectivity with embedded glass beads for nighttime visibility
- Skid resistance for safety at intersections and crossings
- Cost efficiency over time despite higher initial cost
